This model is fast becoming the most popular style of hearing aid. These devices are cosmetically appealing due to their overall discreetness. They're small, almost invisible, lightweight and are available in range of colours. Sound travels through an ultra-thin wire into a receiver inside the ear giving a clear, natural sound quality.
The behind the ear models are typically the most powerful hearing instrument available. They are shaped as a small curved case that fits behind the ear and are attached to a custom earpiece moulded to the shape of the outer ear.
These models are particularly minute. The components, including the microphone, receiver and battery can be so small they fit into only a portion of the external part of the ear (concha ITC), or deeply into the ear canal (CIC).
Come on in or talk to one of our team members about the accessories we have on offer and if we can't find it, we can order it in for collection within just a few days.

My ear drum burst during a diving trip and it became infected. I had to see a number of specialists and it took a long time to figure out what went wrong. Once I was referred to Central Audiology everything moved along quite quickly. I was fitted with a discreet hearing aid, which has really helped my hearing. I was able to get it partially funded and Central Audiology was also really helpful, giving me all the information and help I needed to get used to it.
From the time of my first hearing test, to the recommendation for my first set of hearing aids and all of the subsequent checks and services of my aids over the past 10 years, I have been very impressed with the friendly professional service I have received from the staff of Central Audiology Taranaki.
I have recently upgraded my hearing devices. These are brilliant. I have gained noticeable improvement in the quality of my hearing. I can hear sounds I have long forgotten.
I would highly recommend Central Audiology to friends. They are very helpful and the hearing aids I have are awesome! They even directly connect to my iPhone so that I can listen to all of my favourite music.
